Happy Holi!

An upset dog lying on the floor

If only I wasn't a stray! If only I would've been adopted like my other friends, I wouldn't have to suffer this pain and stinging soreness of chemicals on my body.

As a child, I had always loved this festival of colours, but, now I loathe it. I despise it more than any other festival.

I still can't forget that day, many summers back, when a balloon of chemicals splashed on my father's eye. He howled and cried for days in pain. He knew death was close, so he did as much as he could, to keep us happy, but the happiness didn't last long. Slowly his eye starter rotting and life crept out of him.

He had always told me, "If you don't hurt then men, they won't hurt you back." But he was wrong! They hurt him just for fun. Just because they wanted everyone to be full of colours, they splashed those chemicals at every being they saw!

Last year, my sister was fortunate enough to have missed the balloon, by an inch from her ear. And this year, they deliberately inked me and my mother when we were searching for food in the garbage bin.

Tomorrow if in revenge, I bite any one of them, they will call the masters. Who will catch us by the neck and shut us in a van and take us away from the world of men, to a place where we don't belong.

I wonder this will ever stop! I wonder whether they will ever understand that the colours are joy for them, but a curse for us. A wee bit of dry colours don't harm but those toxic liquids do. They rot our skins and make us void of fur on our body. They damage our internal as well as external organs.

They campaign for so many things at once, why don't they campaign about saving Animals during festivals and treating them after they're infected? Why?

Holi is a very suspicious festival. A day full of colours where no one gets angry to be inked. No one questions as the tagline itself says BURA NA MANO HOLI HAI!

This Holi festival, let us also take care of the unspeakable ones. The animals who make the surrounding more lively! BURA NA MANO HOLI HAI PAR BAS ZARA DHYAN SE KHELO TAKI KISI JANWAR KO CHOT NA POHOCHE.

WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY AND COLOURFUL HOLI!!!
